Or just tear up some warm pita bread, dip it in olive oil, and into the za’atar. The result? Yum!
Za’atar Spice Mix
1 tsp black pepper, ground
2 tsp salt
2 tbsp sumac
6 tsp dried oregano
6 tsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp cumin seeds
- Roast the cumin seeds in a dry pan till they begin to release their aroma. Turn off the heat.
- Grind the roasted seeds to a fine powder using a mortar and pestle.
- Add all the other ingredients and mix well.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a month.
